Desire
There are a lot of opinions about the character traits that lead to success. The one that I feel stands out from the rest is desire. People can set an infinite number of goals they want to reach but without the desire to reach those goals, the likelihood of achieving them is slim. On the other hand, someone with the passion to succeed won't be easily deterred and will continue to search for alternative paths to success if initial attempts fail.
It seems to be an obvious solution to keep trying, but think of how easy it is to get discouraged and give up. This is especially true for goals as they are usually set somewhat out of reach. If it were easy, they'd be labeled as tasks, not goals. But those that are passionate about something will find a way to get it if they are willing to make the necessary sacrifices. If not, then maybe they just don't want it bad enough. Desire is the fuel.
