$75 Lesson
I missed a dentist appointment last week and it's going to cost me $75. Ridiculous right? Well, maybe not. From what I understand, most dentists hire dental hygienists to clean your teeth on a rotational basis. So if you don't show, they still need to pay these hygienists. I can understand this even though $75 is a lot to swallow. I expected it to be $30 or so.
The worst part is that they called me to confirm the appointment the day before. Could I really have that much going on that it totally slipped my mind? This got me thinking. I set the appointment on my calendar at work, on my Outlook calendar, and I received the confirmation call. Three different reminders and yet I forgot.
I recall an article I had read about a Google executive centralizing all his information on three applications: Gmail, Google calendar, and of course some other Google app (which I don't remember). Rather than muddle his head with trying to remember all this information, he simply needed to be able to pull it when he needed it. Makes total sense to me. I need to start consolidating my points of information. More isn't better.
