What Are You Reading?

It's hard to believe 2 years have almost gone by since I started this b-school experience. During the first week of my final semester, one of my professors asked what book we were reading. Another professor asked what was the last book we read.

I like reading and even made it a previous new year's goal. But this focus on reading prompted me to reflect on why it is that we read. For pleasure? Sure. Self-improvement? Yes. Self-enrichment? Probably not enough. Although discussions about books we've read can sometimes seem like a pissing contest, to some extent reading does make us more cultured. We are exposed to different worlds, new ideas, and opportunities to learn. It's a unique medium of entertainment yet it drives a lot of content we see in other mediums.

The assigned reading I have for school this semester is crushing me. But the echoed questions of my professors have been a reminder of how important it is to continue reading and learning.

reading is the best path to knowledge. the other day i was reading a murakami book about runners and how your muscles adapt to what you ask them to do. i think that reading is like that for your brain, makes it adapt to try to absorb the content/knowledge.
