I was thinking about success and how unique it is to see multiple members of a family excel on a level that millions of others never reach. Most of the examples that come to mind are from sports:

NFL quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning


NBA coaches Stan and Jeff Van Gundy


Professional tennis players Serena and Venus Williams


There are examples outside of sports too:

Singers Ashlee and Jessica Simpson


Okay, maybe I lost a little bit of credibility with that last example but you get the idea. Is this concentrated success the result of being in the same environment? Or is it the competitive atmosphere that drives these siblings to perform better as individuals? How would these cases be different if each sibling had pursued different career paths? Would they be similarly successful in a different profession? Are my brother's efforts in his career affecting my potential for individual success?

No answers, just questions for thought. And perhaps, some motivation.
