Breaking 100

Since 2009, one of my goals has been to shoot a round of golf under 100. It's sort of the unwritten benchmark of a decent golf player that has eluded me for quite some time. Part of the reason is that I didn't often play a full 18 hole course. There is a 9-hole course back home that only takes about 2 hours which leaves enough time in the day for other activities. But this summer, I'm trying to focus my efforts on achieving this goal.

I played for the first time this year a couple weeks ago at Chester Washington. Had a couple holes that were so bad that I stopped counting but I was hitting well with my driver and had high hopes for my next time out. That next time out was at Wilson at Griffith Park but didn't turn out quite like I expected. Had a really tough time hitting the long ball with my driver, hybrids, and long irons. What made matters worse was the swarm of bugs that seemed to follow us from hole to hole.

Golf is an incredibly frustrating sport but at the same time I can understand the allure to improve and master the game. Hopefully I can follow up this post soon with updates on my improvement and progress towards breaking 100.
