Review: Versailles Cuban Restaurant

I'd passed by Versailles Cuban Restaurant a few times since moving to Los Angeles but never tried it until a recent get-together with some friends. They have 4 locations in Southern California, and we went to the one in LA (1415 S. La Cienega, Los Angeles, CA 90034).

We met late for dinner and although they have a private lot there isn't much parking and the pavement is rather broken up. Tread carefully. The restaurant was rather bustling for the time, but we didn't have to wait long to sit for a group of 5. Their menu consists of basic but hearty staples with a formula of meat, beans, and rice. I ordered the Combinacion De Pollo y Puerco so I could try both the chicken and pork:

Although the chicken is one of their most popular dishes I thought it was a bit dry. The rest was good,as well as the sangria we ordered. At least, up until I tried to eat an apple slice that turned out to be an orange rind.

As you can see from the picture, portions are sizeable. Normally, I'd be able to take down this meal without any issues but I admit that I didn't quite finish. What is happening to me?!
