Napa: V. Sattui/ Domaine Chandon

To finish up my trip to Napa last week, after eating at Gott's Roadside we only made it to two wineries. They were nice ones though so it was enjoyable to just lounge a little instead of trying to make as many stops as possible. The first winery we went to was V. Sattui, which was named the 2011 'Winery of the Year'. They have a great outdoor picnic area and a deli where you can buy all sorts of cheeses, breads, and others to snack or lunch on. We tried their $10 tasting where we got to pick 6 wines to try and ended up buying a bottle of their Riesling. V. Sattui doesn't distribute their wines so if you want to try their wines you need to make a trip out to their winery.

Next we headed to Domaine Chandon.

They have a classic tasting of sparkling wines that they do distribute so we opted for the reserve tasting for $20. Great service here - definitely less crowded than V. Sattui. The reserves are aged longer than their classics which makes for smaller bubbles. While they are refreshing for a hot day I can't see myself enjoying more than one glass. They had some still wines as well but are better known for their sparking wines. We took our last wine of the three from our tasting (you get to keep the flute) and walked around for a bit.
