Advance Screening: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

I was fortunate enough to catch an advance screening of Harry Potter 7 over the weekend thanks to having friends in high places.

We made it to the theater early since the screening started at 9AM. There was already quite a line but after waiting a while we started to move. The event was really well run overall - we even got free popcorn and drinks. There was a slight hiccup in the beginning of the movie when the 3-D glasses weren't working, but as annoying as it was it was also kind of funny. The screen was green and quality worse than pirated material, but what made it funny was how people were reacting. Here are some direct quotes:

"Oh my gosh, I'm freaking out!"

"This is the worst thing that has ever happened to me!"

This in addition to the more popular "Glasses don't work!" and "Start the movie over!" They did end up starting the movie over once they got the 3-D working. We were given some commemorative Harry Potter glasses to watch the movie with and then told that they actually don't work for 3-D and were given regular ones.

The movie itself was decent. I'd only read through book 5 and was still able to follow but I can definitely see how someone who didn't read the books or follow the movies would be pretty lost.
The funniest part for me was when Harry had to jump into a body of water and when he came up for air he still had his glasses on.

Fun experience although it was a strange to be eating popcorn so early in the morning. Below is a shot of one the hallways that displayed promotional posters for all the Harry Potter movies.
